Job Summary
The Prepress Executive is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and managing artwork files for packaging production. The role ensures that all designs are print-ready, technically accurate, and aligned with client specifications and printing standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Artwork & File Preparation
• Receive and review artwork files from clients/design teams
• Adapt designs as per packaging formats (cartons, labels, etc.)
• Prepare final print-ready files with correct dimensions and bleeds
2. Preflight & Quality Checks
• Perform preflight checks (fonts, images, resolution, color modes)
• Ensure all files meet printing and production standards
• Identify and correct errors before production
3. Color Management
• Manage color separation (CMYK, spot colors, Pantone)
• Ensure color accuracy as per brand guidelines
• Coordinate for color proofs and approvals
4. Dieline & Layout Management
• Create and edit dielines as per packaging structure
• Align artwork with die cuts and folding layouts
• Ensure proper trapping, overprints, and finishing requirements
5. Print Process Coordination
• Prepare files for offset, flexo, or gravure printing
• Coordinate with production and printing teams
• Resolve technical issues during plate making and printing
6. Documentation & Version Control
• Maintain proper file naming, version control, and archives
• Ensure correct documentation for each job
• Manage revisions and client changes efficiently
7. Coordination
• Work closely with design, production, and client servicing teams
• Communicate technical requirements clearly
• Support smooth workflow from design to print
8. Continuous Improvement
• Suggest process improvements for efficiency and accuracy
• Stay updated with latest prepress tools and technologies
Key Skills & Competencies
• Hands-on experience with Esko Software (ArtPro, Automation Engine, DeskPack)
• Understanding of printing processes (offset, flexo, gravure)
• Knowledge of color management and packaging standards
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under tight deadlines
Preferred Experience
• Minimum 5 years in prepress for packaging industry
• Experience in FMCG / Pharma packaging preferred
• Exposure to Esko tools (ArtPro, Automation Engine) is an added advantage
